The old song reverberates in my mind. But rarely does it apply as much as it does today.
The weekend long celebration of the Inaguration of the President and Vice-President here in the United States.
We celebrate. The world celebrates … well some of it. And I am in awe of it all.
The 150th Anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation … Martin Luther King Day … and Inauguration. All standing for the same thing.
Freedom … equality for all men … and women.
Between the taking of the Oath, the Parades, the Speeches, the Dancing, the Singing and all the Celebration … there was one moment that really stood out to me.
Yes, Al Roker … the Weatherman.
Al Roker … who years ago lost a great great deal of weight so he would be alive when his infant daughter grew up.
Al Roker … who was teased about how he should get an interview with the President.
Al Roker … who was standing out in the freezing cold covering the Parade.
He got it.
The first post-inaugural interview with the President. About the weather.
Let’s hear it for the little guy …
hope the link works …
