Too old and too irreverent.
But I can’t stop laughing.
So lucky you, I’m writing here about it.
My phone just rang.
You know, the cell phone that I just got?
The Smartphone?
The one that nobody knows about except for a very few?
Me, dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century?
It rang. I answered.
The call was from California.
From a young woman with a vaguely Asian accent and a very tired voice, who clearly had been having a very long day.
Me: “Hello?”
(phone cycles through)
Me: “Hello?”
(about to hang up)
Me: “Hellloooo?”
(she picks up)
She: “Listen.” (aggressive much?)
Me: “Yes?”
She: “I’m calling about your student loan, OK?”
At this point I envision a very cranky, very obnoxious woman.
Me: “First of all, I’m 62 years old.”
She: (silence)
Me: “Second of all, I’ve never had a student loan.”
She hung up on me.
Guess she’ll have to find someone else to intimidate. I’m way past that.
Sometimes it’s fun being older and irreverent.
Seriously.

It is nice to think that think you are successful enough to pay a loan back wait for a few months and you will get the call “have you ever considered the cost of your funeral?” my response is “why should I I’m not paying for it!” they hang up on that as well – new windows? we live in an underground house built into the rock (that confuses the caller and you can have great fun, there is a lot to look forward to.

Gotta love that, eh?
In my case the lack of loan was thanks to the kindness of my parents who paid for my BS.
The degree that is.
