I thought the first thing I would try to write with the realistic intent of completion would be in a whole different genre.

But as it turns out, a wonderful combination of opportunities have presented themselves.

Start with a dear friend with an incredible passion for history, research and a knack at writing as well.

Add the fact that there is a significant anniversary of a certain battle coming up in a few months.

Keep in mind that said battle was fought not too terribly far from here. And has been visited more than once by said historical expert and said … me.

Then add a lunch the other day … where ideas were flowing like … well, like ideas.

Mix in one cup of Suspension Of Disbelief …

Blend well and you come up with … that is, hopefully you come up with … a series of four short stories.

One story of a Young Girl and the Civil War. One story of a Native American and the Civil War. One story of an Immigrant and the Civil War. And one of how they all tie together … in a most amazing way … in Gettysburg … in the first few days of July of 1863.

The one about the young girl has been written. I am taking a break even as we speak from doing some basic editing on the thing. Two others have been sketched out in quite some detail, but need to be written.  And the fourth is merely a few words on a single piece of paper.

It feels like the other three are going to write themselves. Much like this blog seems to do each day.

This is too much fun.

Excuse me … I’m going back to the stories …
