Well I was going to call this “I Do Not Like This Sam I Am” … and am suddenly hungry for breakfast.
But I digress.
This is a little early to be writing a Happy Holly Project entry. And I will probably wait till later to formally publish it. But something just happened that definitely does not make me happy.
And I felt the need to write about it here. And maybe get some feedback from you.
For those who know me well, it is no secret … I have been known to fall asleep while reading a good book, or blog entry, or just about anything.
I think specifically it was a not too exciting game of Sudoku … and my wandering mind … that was responsible this time. That’s what happens when I get up early and don’t fall back asleep.
I just lead such an exciting life these days.
At any rate, I woke to a dull, almost anemic pinging from my trusty Netpad.
As I focused my eyes I saw a small pop-up window … asking me to sign on to the cloud and take advantage of the New And Improved Google Chrome …
Which Google had just installed.
Without my permission.
Not only that, but they had turned off the Windows Firewall that provided security … and they had turned off my BitDefender Security system.
By signing onto the cloud, they reasoned, I could go to my information from any device I might choose. And everything would be consistent.
And I would not have to worry about my favorites, they continued, because everything was now going to be stored in the cloud.
Including my passwords.
They had it all covered, they said, and all I had to do was to start using it.
Call me cynical … okay, you’re cynical … but when any entity says they have my passwords and history and preferences “under control” … and that control is not under my control …
… well let’s just say the phrase “Lack Of Trust” was flashing in a bubble above my head. I’m pretty sure it was a bubble.
Then the subtle pinging brought my attention back to my Netpad. And my non-functioning security … thanks to Google Chrome.
I immediately UNinstalled Google Chrome.
And changed my passwords.
And restarted all the installed security.
And vowed to do the same to my desktop PC and laptop PC as soon as I had my morning coffee.
Today was definitely a coffee day.
I am now a the radio station … about to start my shift.
I saw a rainbow on the way up here.
It’s a good sign.
Google Chrome? More secure? We think not.

Many women see a look they like and wear it, regardless of what is in fashionand we applaud that because variety is the spice of life and if everyone were in fashion it wouldnt be fashionable anymore. On the opposite spectrum, some ladies go way too far in trying to stay hip. Take Lady Gaga, for example. While you may see her as a unique jewel in an otherwise bland musical arena, then consider this most of Lady Gagas outfits were done by professional designers and thus her creativity is not very high at all.
