Forgive the alliteration.
But I was just swamped with the most amazing memories of days gone by while doing the Word Of The Day on a friends Facebook page. She posts a word … we all try to use the word in a comment, song lyric, poem, etc.
But the thing that caught my attention was the fact that she is a fan of Moonlighting … the TV show from March 3, 1985, to May 14, 1989.
Four of the five or six best years of my life.
And the memories came flooding back.
Folks who worked with us and customers alike all commented on how similar we were to Maddie and David in the show.
The similarities were not lost on us.
Once in Philadelphia we walked down the brick sidewalks somewhere near the waterfront … singing Doo Wah Diddy (see Episode 2 “Gunfight At The So-So Corral” 1985)
Then there is the underlying story of the series. Where it got its inspiration.
In his audio commentary for the season-three DVD, creator Glenn Gordon Caron says that the inspiration for the series was a production of The Taming of the Shrew he saw in Central Park starring Meryl Streep and Raúl Juliá
Taming of The Shrew … possibly my favorite non-movie piece of literature. There was once a man who sensed how much I identified with this that he suggested that we get the script and read it … his Petruchio to my Katherina, as it were.
Now that was a relationship that never was given the chance to become what would have certainly been … magnificent.
So to the two men who pop to my mind … here’s to you … and the incredible memories.
