… and I ask myself “you are blogging … why again, exactly?”
For those of you who may have read my humble but loveable blog entries over the months since I started blogging, you have maybe noticed that I have … shall we say … a quirky sense of humor. The way I observe life is … maybe a bit unusual.
And what do the gods say about this, you ask?
Yes, they hide their faces in shame. And shake their heads … well, as much as statues can shake their heads … in amazement at what just happened this last month.
What exactly happened this month you ask?
Well, allow me to post here a smidgen of what I wrote …. in my own private diary earlier last week. And yes, in addition to this blog and whatever project I might be working on, I also maintain a private diary of my off the top of my head thoughts. A stream of consciousness, as it were. A place to dump frustration and whatnot.
You can imagine what fun reading that might be.
I am astounded that I am basically at an all time high except for that one month on my blog. I have published virtually nothing this month. And the hits have been coming like nobody’s business. That will teach me to think I have something of value … lol.
But having learned this, what am I going to do in the future with it? Should I make some changes or something? No clue. My “goal” originally was to pull myself out of myself and force myself to do something everyday for the sole purpose of making myself happy.
Not someone else. Me. A unique concept that led to fixing up my house, and the continued writing of whatever.
Yes, dear readers, I … of the Happy Holly Project … the one who wrote responsibly, continually … some might say obsessively … from June 24th 2012 all the way through the end of the project year June 24th 2013 … through the rest of 2013 and on until February of 2014 without missing One. Single. Day. … who wrote her heart out in hopes of being noticed, followed, liked and all of it … I was a slug last month.
So much so that there were only ten … count them … ten posts all month. And a few of them were not all that. One was just a list of other pages. One a cut / copy / paste of another blog. One a bunch of images from a few well done Google searches. You get the idea.
But do you know what happened?
I got the second most number of hits … ever. And it was within a few dozen hits of being the best month … ever. New followers. Some likes. Comments. Everything.
Ten posts.
Now I *could* take this to mean that most of my stuff is nothing to, shall we say, write home to Mom about.
I, on the other hand, the depressed optimist, choose to look at it as “HEY look at all those HITS. Imagine what I could do if I really tried again?”
Then, on top of it all, I got the Blogging 101 email today … a month of WordPress inspired techniques to get a blog up and running. Exercises. Ideas. Homework.
You know what they say …
When the Student is ready, the Teacher will appear
Oh goodie. A month (except for Saturdays and Sundays) in which I will get a chance to learn. Be a better blogger. Get more good stuff out of all of this. Even put a fancy Blogging 101 image over there on the page.
I can hardly wait!
Oh ye gods of writing!! What say ye??
Everybody is a critic!
Thiss was great to read

Holly: It’s been my experience that the gods are never wrong (Tāne-mahuta being my main goto god) – there’s a few of us (perhaps more) causing much of this deity face palming. (But secretly, I enjoy it. 🙂 )
Thanks for sharing your contributions to their woes each day… the “daily deity distresses”… so to speak.

I love the part of your diary entry the most! From my point of view it is the funniest part.
And I am SO GOINT TP show this to my brother – I bet he will love to have a good laugh for the day too.
I myself sometimes wished I could write funny – well I can’t – but acutually that never really bothered me. I think I rather like reading funny stuff then writing it by myself.
Yet. I am kind of obsessed with writing (I write every day often even more than once a day) but I am not an obsessed blogger – I have like thousands of notebooks at home ( are the paper-made things called that way in English?) …
Yeah… I am a freak….
😉 What would you say about that? facepalm ? yeah… thought so… 😉
(Okay I AM really bad at making jokes – but I couldn’t resist )

AH, freaks of the world unite, eh? Thanks for the comment. 🙂
I don’t know if my writing is all that funny. FWIW, I’m thinking if you write in your own “voice” about the things that make you laugh, there is a chance that someone else will also find it funny.
But then, what do I know? 😮
