Oh … Laissez les bons temps rouler … and I mean that in all the most fat laden ways possible.
Some of you who may have read my post yesterday will know that I indulged in Lundi Gras … or Fat Monday … a pre-party / opportunity to stuff my face in the day leading up to Mardi Gras … or Fat Tuesday.
A two-day binge-o-thon as it were.
Something to help me get through the self-promised losing weight effort set to start … coincidentally … with Lent tomorrow.
Counter-productive, you say? Well, there’s that.
This is similar to Shrove Tuesday … aka Pancake Tuesday.
Do you notice a recurring theme here?
And no, I have not had pancakes … yet.
As a matter of fact, I just today realized that Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday … my fourth grade French teacher would not be proud.
In the manner of all things Mardi Gras Mask, I will say that I have been utilizing them since last summer when this Happy Holly Project began.
You will recall the authentic antique feathered Mardi Gras mask from all the pictures of my friends …
And up in my bedroom there is a peacock feather inspired Mardi Gras mask on the one bedside stand.
Plus the one given to me as a gift … also peacock feather themed.
Although to be honest … other than the faux peacock feather … for some reason I am reminded of an antacid commercial.
But I digress.
Although I’ve never been to Mardi Gras in New Orleans … beads, parades, LSU colors, krewes, and Kelly Clarkson notwithstanding … I can certainly celebrate Fat Tuesday in my own way.
I have no King Cake here. Living alone, I would get the baby inside anyway … so what’s the point?
So far I have consumed some Lox and Bagels … a small bottle of Sparkling Grape Juice (it was so cute when I saw it the other day) … Cappucchino … some Twizzlers … some Dark Chocolate Covered Cherries (with liquid centers, of course) … and a few other things that were left over in the refrigerator.
And that’s just today.
Still on the agenda is my beloved Wise Potato Chips and Cream Cheese dip … and some frozen Key Lime Pie.
The jury is still out on the popcorn.
I guess I should save something for the watching of the State of the Union Address tonight.
They say it’s not over till the fat lady sings …
I’m not even humming yet …
