Funny how things can sometimes crop up just when you need them to.

Like yesterday. Somebody had said something particularly hurtful (boo them) and it threw me for a minute.

I hate when stuff like that happens.

My first instinct was to shoot from the hip. Full sarcastic six shooters striking a blow.

Then right as I was about to type a link popped up for the prayer that the Dalai Lama said on the floor of the Senate on Thursday.

Not only was I diverted, but it touched me.

And hopefully the words will touch you.

Yes, I tried to make a meme, but the meme makers don’t seem to do what I’d like them to do.

So here is the picture. And the text of what he said.

“With our thoughts, we make our world, Our mind is central and precedes our deeds. Speak or act with a pure mind and happiness will follow you like a shadow that never leaves.

May there be joy in the world with bountiful harvest and spiritual wealth. May every good fortune come to be and may all our wishes be fulfilled.

This is my favorite Prayer. Daily I pray this it gives me inner strength and enthusiasm to serve sentient being and humanity.

As long as space remains and as long as sentient beings remain, until then may I, too, remain and help dispel the misery of the world.”
