… what’s that, you say? The Academy Awards aren’t until Sunday?
Yes, but I got an award last night!
Well, I believe it’s called the Liebster Award and …
It was Lojelle … well actually Jessica Elle and she …
Yes, of course she is a real blogger, she nomi…
Oh, come on … surely you have heard of it. The Leibster Award? I am sure it is for excellence in wri…
No! It most definitely is NOT a chain letter for WordPress, it is a highly distinguished awa…
Well, yes, there were several other people chosen … and yes, I am also supposed to nominate several other people, but …
Yes, I agree, that is how a chain letter works … kind of … but I am sure this has deep and wonderful roots. I’ll just go out now and find them.
** Holly goes out to Google to do a little research. Here are the results. **
Thanks to Constructive Thoughts, I got this:
… the rules seemed to stabilize at these:
- Thank your Liebster Blog Award presenter on your blog.
- Link back to the blogger who awarded you.
- Copy & paste the award to your blog.
- Nominate 5 blogs that you enjoy to receive the award who have less than 200 followers.
- Inform them of their nomination by leaving a comment on their blog.
And thanks to Sopphey on Blogspot I got the following:
The most I learned was that it was kind of like a chain letter, a blogger to
blogger award, you had to nominate 5 bloggers with less than 200 readers,
“liebster” is dearest in German, and that no one knew the origins.
Beside the original Germanic name implications, it seems to go back to 2010 or earlier … and there is an “honorary award” if you decide to accept the award, but not pass it on.
Another variation would have me nominate others, then “Sit back and bask in the warm fuzzy feeling that comes with knowing you have made someones day! ” Along with no obligation to pass it along.
There are also many variations of the award icon itself including, but not limited to the following:
So, many many thanks to Lojelle / Jessica Elle for giving me my first award … and how perfect that it is called Liebster. And here I thought nobody read my blog.
Okay, nobody except the 142 folks who follow me one way or another … and the handful that I know read this and are not among the counted.
You know, there is a page out here on the Happy Holly Project called About Holly that has been horribly empty since I put it there. I think I will use the award and its requirements as a template for that page … and will think on it for a day or so.
So, like they said above “Sit back and bask in the warm fuzzy feeling that comes with knowing you have made someones day!” … and you certainly did.
